Lazy Man’s Yoga
For several years I have tried to receive a Thai massage at least once a month or every other month. Thai massage or “lazy man’s yoga,” as some euphemistically call it, is a series of assisted stretches and compressions on a mat covered floor while the client is fully clothed. I was face up for most of it, though there were some moves done while I was face down. The massage stretched the muscles from head to toe.
What it FEELS like
What I feel during Thai massage is deep, but gentle, stretches in my hips, legs, shoulders, arms and neck. Many of the movements also stretch and rotate my back. Some of the work is a little intense but not overly so. I always feel invigorated afterwards. During a table massage, I feel relaxed and can often achieve an altered mental state of relaxation. During Thai massage, I am engaged throughout the session as I am being positioned by the practitioner.

Who is your Therapist, Chrystal Hood, LMT
Chrystal has been a Thai Massage practitioner for two years. She earned her Thai Massage education credits from Peter and Melody Bird from Two Birds Thai Bodyworks. She also learned from Matt Jarvis, a local Thai Massage therapist.
What is Thai Massage
In Thai massage, the therapist puts you through a series of stretches that cover the entire body. (That’s why it’s often called lazy man’s yoga.) You lie on a floor mat wide enough to accommodate the therapist, and you wear loose-fitting clothing, because there’s no way a sheet can stay put during these moves—the therapist might kneel on the back of your legs and pull your arms to arch your back and open your chest, or place their shoulder under your heel to lift your leg and stretch your hamstring. Thai massage also includes deep-pressure point work. Source
Additional Information and Benefits of Thai Massage
What is Thai Massage? Traditional Thai Massage – A combination of acupressure and yoga-like stretching techniques that employs the use of the therapist's fingers, thumbs, elbows, arms and feet on the body's muscles, pressure points and energy lines (“Sen”) to clear energy blockages and balance the body's energy. What Others Say About Chrystal's Work
“Chrystal’s Thai massage is amazing! I get all the relief of a deep tissue massage but with a gentler and more relaxing experience. She has been my massage therapist for 2 years and has done wonders in eliminating aches and pains. Her ability to identify the areas in need of therapy is spot on and she tailors the treatments to suit me. I would recommend her Thai massage to anyone but especially those who could benefit from deep tissue but want an alternative that is just as effective but so much more comfortable.” — Mandi
“Chrystal’s Thai Massage was amazing. My legs, hip, back and arms felt so much looser. My pain level was much lower and I look forward to seeing her on a regular basis” — Michael
